Table Mountain under fire

D: Nach einem tollen Nachtflug dank LUFTHANSA kam klein Jil Nona ausgeruht in Capetown an. Etwas verschnupft aber froh, endlich dem Münchner Schmuddel-Winterwetter zu entkommen, war der Einstieg hier in Capetown einfach perfekt. Peter hat uns abgeholt. Und Dank UBER kam auch ich mit samt dem restlichen Gepäck in deren Haus an. Es liegt direkt unter dem Tafelberg in Traumlage und mit einem Blick, der einfach nur gigantisch ist.

Die lange Hitze fordert aber ihren Tribut. Der Tafelberg in Flammen.

Helikopter waren den ganzen Tag beschäftigt, die Flammen zu besiegen, die dank der Winde immer wieder entflammt sind.

Vier Tage sind wir nun schon hier und werden ab morgen in einer schönen Unterkunft die restliche Zeit bis zur Weiterreise nach Mauritius verbringen. Bei Diethelm Schüssler in seinem OCEAN12 Apartmenthaus sind wir schon jetzt voller Vorfreude wie so ein Leben direkt am Sunset beach sein wird. Vorgeschmack auf mehr ?

Nach zwei Kitetagen ist heute am Dienstag unser Ruhetag und morgen geht der Capedoctor, wie der Südostwind hier genannt wird, wieder los.

E: after a enjoying flight with LUFTHANSA, Jil Nona arrived totally rested in Capetown. She catched a cold before departure, but she´s totally happy to escape the ugly winter weather in Munich and so the start here in Capetown was simply perfect. Thanks to Peter, who picked us up and also thanks UBER, I also arrived in their beautiful house below the Table Mountain with a stunning view over the city.

The long hot weather period was the reason that the table mountain was under fire. Helicopters tried the whole day to fight against the fires, which popped up again and again due to the winds.

4 days we are already here in the city and from tomorrow on, we will stay in OCEAN12 Appratments, managed by Diethelm Schüssler and his partner Alex. We are already looking forward to live directly on the sandy beach front of sunset beach. Maybe foretaste to more ?

After two days with kiting we have a rest today before the cape doctor starts his job again tomorrow. The southeaster wind is called cape doctor here..
